College Learning Curve

College has put me through a lot—both good and bad. All of it, however, is necessary for growth. So here's a list of my month-by-month learning progress.

August: I learned that talking to strangers isn't as scary as it may seem (if you find the right strangers).

September: I learned that sometimes you don't click with people and it's okay. Having people not want to be your friend doesn't make you a bad person, it just means that you don't fit.

October: I learned that making new friends on top of your already new friends spices up life and it's okay to change up who you hang with occasionally.

November: I learned that most college freshmen boys will use ghosting instead of their words. This is not a reflection of you, but instead them and their affinity for living passive-aggressively.

December: I learned that getting sick of your friends is okay. They probably don't want to spend every waking second with you either.

January: I learned the importance of self care and calling your mom when you have a bad day (seriously call your mom).

February: I learned that dating doesn't have to be scary if you're with the right person.

March: I learned that doing small things with someone you care about can make them seem like big things.

April: I learned that last minute procrastination never really leaves you, especially around finals season (Every year I binge Grey's Anatomy and start 20 knitting projects).

As you can see, some of the things are inherently good and others not so much, but they all taught me about who I am and how to deal with the world, one step at a time. I don't think I'll ever be able to fend off the procrastination, as this post is 100% made from pretending I don't need to study for an exam tomorrow. However, there are many things I learned about myself that I think I never would have figured out unless I went through this specific journey. The majority of my college posts are all sad and lonely, but that's because this is my first step into adulthood and being an adult is scary and lonely. With help, though, adulthood is manageable and sometimes fun. Hopefully I'll update more often in the future, but for now this is it on my college journey.
